Once upon a time there was a mountain girl and an ocean boy. The girl spent her days climbing trees, cresting mountains and collecting rocks. The boy spent his days swimming, fishing and collecting tastes and smells… and teaching himself the art of fermentation.
The mountain girl grew into a woman and began a career in geology where she could crest mountains and collect rocks. The ocean boy grew into a sommelier and a garagiste winemaker where he could collect tastes and smells.
But on one fateful day, in a Wine Bar in Monterey, the two did meet…
A twinkle of the eye, a wave of the fingers, a kiss and five short weeks later they were engaged. Adventure was on the horizon and with the sell of what little they owned, they were off.
Embarking on a trip around the globe to smell, taste, climb and of course make wine. In the cellars of New Zealand they built barrel pyramids and on an autumn day in May, they were wed in the Malbec terraces above the sea. Honeymooning through the coasts of Asia, the Isles of Greece and the Alps of Italy they found themselves in the cellars of France. Collecting knowledge, memories, tastes and aromas…
The day came to return home. They landed at midnight in the San Francisco airport, waiting for bags to come popping up the carousal, hands intertwined, penniless and full of passion with the desire to make wine…
The girl turned to the boy and said, “Let’s just start our own winery.
