Changala is a small family owned and operated winery on the west side of Paso Robles.
After leaving our previous life in Silicon Valley, we started growing grapes and making wine on a small scale at our Templeton property in the late 1980’s. We worked at a few different wineries and and then became co-owners of the historic HMR property. We struck out on our own with the Changala brand and officially became bonded in 2001. During this time we continued to expand our knowledge of the industry with classes at Cal Poly and UC Davis as well as gaining practical experience and support from local growers and winemakers.
We moved to our west side Paso property in 2004 and opened our tasting room in 2008. In addition to Grenache from our home vineyard, we work with a few growers who are dedicated to growing the very best grapes. Working with these growers, our goal at Changala is to produce consistently excellent wines that emphasize the fruit of the vineyard.
