TASTING NOTES: Rich, savory, smooth. Age-worthy. Our Estate Red is the culmination of decades of site-specific research with the goal of creating a single red wine that evokes the unique character of the estate. The palate is dense and rich with layers of black fruits, dark chocolate and vanilla, framed by supple tannins. This wine will age beautifully over the next 15 years.

The quest for quality is the basis for all winemaking decisions on the Chalk Hill Estate. The vineyardists coax Mother Nature to create perfect fruit that, once harvested, is delivered to the winery with only the most delicate touches. In the Winery, the Winemaker, Steve Nelson, and his dedicated staff gently shepherd the grapes through the fermentation process to the bottle. With an estate-wide, shared aesthetic, the process is light-handed, non-invasive, and sustainable, allowing each bottle to emulate the essence of the vineyard.
Chalk Hill is a ruggedly beautiful 1,477 acre estate. Surrounded by heritage oak woodlands and natural riparian streams, a scant 350 vineyard acres meander— a patchwork of 60 different small vineyards, each dedicated to producing distinctive wines of elegance and power.
